National statistics on coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) deaths in 18 states as of April 21, 2020 indicate a racial disparity, based on data from jurisdictions with more than 100 deaths processed by the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS). The share of deaths among non-Hispanic whites and non-Hispanic blacks is higher than would be expected based on population share.
