About This Event
Screening & Differential Diagnosis For Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD)
Background:In most cases of ADPKD, the diagnosis is straightforward, with patients presenting with enlarged cystic kidneys and a positive family history.1 However, in some cases, the diagnosis can be a bit more complicated. A small number of cases (~5%) occur due to spontaneous (de novo) mutations,2 but a lack of family history is reported in as many as 25% of newly diagnosed cases, suggesting that many familial cases go undetected.2 Additionally, there are several rare conditions that can present with cystic kidneys and may be considered during the differential diagnosis of ADPKD.1
Why watch this webinar?Expert speakers will discuss a diagnostic work up for ADPKD and walk through a diagnostic algorithm including a differential diagnosis for cystic kidney disease. Best practices for different imaging modalities and genetic testing will be reviewed.
What you will learn:
- When to utilize different imagining modalities for diagnosis and prognosis of polycystic kidney disease
- When it may be appropriate to incorporate genetic testing
- If not ADPKD, then what could it be?
- Best practices for obtaining the most accurate results for patients
