Diet Management In Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD): Ketogenic Diet – Part 2
Part 1 of this series described the fact that ADPKD is a metabolic reprogramming disease, which may benefit from novel diet strategies such as a ketogenic diet. Part 2 of this 3-part series will discuss and describe the use of a Plant-Focused Ketogenic Diet (PFKD) program for improved ADPKD outcomes. We will set the stage for Part 3 of this series, where we will focus on meal planning, meal preparation and a food demonstration describing a “day in the life” when following a Plant-Focused Ketogenic Diet.

Diana Bruen is a Registered Dietitian and the founder of Kidney Kindness Nutrition. She provides nutrition therapy and education to patients with Chronic Kidney Disease and Polycystic Kidney Disease. Diana received her master’s degree in Nutrition & Health Promotion from Simmons College and has been a Dietitian for over 14 years. She is a renal nutrition specialist with a focus on proactive nutrition for PKD and kidney health. Her research interests include plant-focused ketogenic therapy, pain modification through dietary intervention, and a plant-based diet with CKD. Diana also runs the PKD Nutrition Academy, a learning hub for all things PKD & Nutrition. Her vision is to bring science-based nutrition education to the PKD community on a wider scale with easier access for all. You can find her on Instagram @the.pkd.dietitian.
