A Panel Discussion: Promoting Awareness Of Rare Kidney Diseases With A Focus On Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD) & IgA Nephropathy (IgAN)

(followed by a live Q&A with our speakers)

Background

An estimated 300 million people around the world live with a rare disease1. About 25-30 million Americans are affected by rare diseases1. There are around 150 different rare kidney diseases; two of the most common are Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease and IgA Nephropathy1. Both rare kidney diseases progress through a person’s lifetime, ultimately leading to kidney damage2,3. If left unmanaged, the damage occurring to the kidney may be substantial enough to result in kidney failure2,3.

Did You Know?

  • Since its creation in 2008, Rare Disease Day is observed every year on the last day of February (the 29th on leap years – the rarest day of the year)
  • Glomerular disease (e.g. IgAN) and ADPKD are the 3rd and 4th leading causes of end stage kidney disease, respectively, behind diabetes and hypertension2
Why Attend This Webinar?
  • Join us for our panel discussion, where experts discuss their passion for ADPKD and IgAN and how the entire kidney community can rally around Rare Disease Day to raise awareness about these rare kidney diseases.
What You Will Learn
  • Prevalence of rare diseases
  • Epidemiology of ADPKD and IgAN
  • Impact on patients and caregivers
