Compared to other ethnic populations, people of African-Caribbean heritage and living with diabetes have a 57% greater risk of advanced kidney disease. The incidence rate of advanced kidney disease among this population was 16 per 1,000 person years compared to 7.7 per 1,000 person years among other ethnic populations.
