African Americans Overrepresented In March 2020 COVID Hospitalizations In Atlanta
During March 2020, among 305 people in Atlanta, Georgia who were hospitalized with laboratory-confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), about 83% were African American, a higher than expected share based on overall hospital admissions. At a group of four affiliated hospitals, which accounted for 67% of those in the cohort, 80% of the group were African American compared with 47% of hospitalized people overall during March 2020.
