New Year, New (Kidney Healthy) Diet!
Please join us for a cooking demonstration and panel discussion! We’re excited to welcome back Chef JJ Johnson to the NephU & NephChef communities. In this webinar, he is joined by Patient Advocate Lisa Belk, as well as Registered Dietician Misty Nason for a panel discussion. As always, Chef JJ will bring his culinary flair to a delicious kidney healthy recipe. Registered Dietician and Nutritionist Misty Nason will bring her expertise in renal nutrition to discuss important features of the kidney healthy diet. Special guest Lisa Belk will candidly describe her journey of kidney disease diagnosis and management. She will also share tips on how to motivate yourself to adopt a kidney healthy diet.

Chef JJ Johnson
Chef, TV Personality, & AuthorCultural tastemaker, family man and renowned American chef, JJ Johnson is most recognized for his innovative approach to African Caribbean cuisine. His work has earned him numerous accolades, including the James Beard Foundation Book Award and a two-time spot on the nation’s Restaurant News Power List. He has been featured on a variety of TV shows including Food Network’s Chopped, Netflix’s Street Food, Selena + Chef on HBO Max, and hosts his own show, ‘Just Eats with Chef JJ’ airing for its fifth season on TV One’s network Cleo TV this fall. Chef JJ’s highly anticipated cookbook, The Simple Art of Rice: Recipes from Around the World for the Heart of Your Table, will be released in September 2023. At FIELDTRIP, JJ’s rapidly growing multi-unit fast casual rice bowl concept, he champions sustainability, working with local rice farmers and producers to source the freshest ingredients. With four locations throughout New York City, he is a community advocate for food justice and equity raising awareness within the industry. JJ also has a restaurant concept, E&J slated to launch in August with Mark Lowry and the team at Wonder Foods.

Patient AdvocateLisa is located in New Jersey and consults and advocates for patients with Chronic Kidney Disease and in addition more specifically Polycystic Kidney Disease.

Andrea Mohindra, PharmD, is a Nephrology Medical Science Liaison covering New York City & Long Island. She earned her PharmD at the University of Rhode Island in South Kingstown, RI. Prior to joining Otsuka in 2021, Dr Mohindra held various leadership roles in retail pharmacy for 15 years in the NJ and NYC regions. Most recently, she held the role of Doctor Partnership Manager for a retail pharmacy startup company and worked closely with Psychiatrists and Migraine Specialists. She is currently licensed in New Jersey and New York state.
