Measurement-Based Care: Using Patient-Centered Outcomes To Drive Collaborative Care & Quality Metrics
This presentation will define Measurement-Based Care (MBC) and explore its utility in kidney care, including its process, benefits, and challenges. Furthermore, the importance of Patient-Centered Care (PCC) and Patient-Reported Outcomes (PROs) as it relates to improved patient outcomes and quality metrics will be discussed.

Laura Frank, PhD, MPH, RDN, CD
Nephrology Clinical & Scientific Liaison-
Otsuka Pharmaceutical Development & Commercialization, Inc.*
Laura Frank is a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) working in the nephrology space for Otsuka Pharmaceutical Development and Commercialization (OPDC). Dr Frank holds a PhD in exercise physiology, a MPH in epidemiology, a M.Ed in Nutrition & Dietetics, a BS in molecular biology and is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). She brings a clinical background to the field through her experiences as an acute-care clinical dietitian working with patients with renal diseases and related conditions. She also has a strong academic background with over 12 years of teaching experience and over 6 years of postdoctoral research. She has held several leadership positions such as director of clinical sites for Washington State University’s graduate program in Nutrition & Exercise Physiology and program manager for several projects and grants associated with healthcare organizations. She also has an interest in and holds a professional certificate in Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), with experience in projects related to quality measures.
Kelly Reed, PhD
Nephrology Senior Clinical & Scientific Liaison-
Otsuka Pharmaceutical Development & Commercialization, Inc.*
Kelly Reed, PhD, joined Otsuka in 2012 and is currently a Senior Medical Science Liaison on our Nephrology East Team. Dr. Reed has collaborated with several national professional organizations and healthcare systems providing educational presentations on hyponatremia and Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD). She has been a leader in resource development for the MSL team, co-led the nephrology MSL new hire training program during expansion and served as a mentor to several MSL new hires. Dr. Reed earned her doctorate from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA and completed her clinical internship at the Mailman Center for Child Development in Miami, FL, followed by a two year fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.
