Mental Health In Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD)

  • The psychological impact of ADPKD can negatively impact the patient outcomes. Currently there is a paucity of research in this area and as a result, mental health is underrecognized and underdiagnosed in this patient population. Early detection and treatment of mental health can improve quality of life and is as important as medical management. Bringing awareness to this issue is critical to improving the management and overall well-being of these patients.
Did You Know?
  • Even early on in ADPKD, ADPKD patients report a lower satisfaction with life compared to healthy persons.1
Why Attend This Webinar?
  • The goal of this webinar is to increase awareness surrounding the emotional and physical burden that ADPKD patients face. The webinar will also discuss the impact on patient’s caregivers as well as the urgent call to action for collaborative engagement between nephrology and mental health experts to address mental health in ADPKD patients.
What You Will Learn
  • Discuss the psychological impact of ADPKD (i.e., the biological mechanisms behind anxiety and depression in ADPKD) as well as the emotional burden these patients face
  • Discuss the quality of life in ADPKD patients and the impact on family and caregivers
  • Evaluate the morbidity and mortality outcomes in ADPKD patients
  • Assess what HCPs can do better in terms of empowering their ADPKD patients and properly addressing their mental health needs
