Melanie Betz MS, RD, CSR, CSG, LDN is a Registered Dietitian at the University of Chicago in the Section of Nephrology. She provides outpatient nutrition education and counseling to patients with Chronic Kidney Disease, nephrolithiasis, Polycystic Kidney Disease, and other kidney related disorders. She received her Bachelor’s degree in dietetics from Michigan State University and completed a Master’s degree in Clinical Nutrition at Rush University Medical Center. Ms Betz is certified in renal and geriatric nutrition. Her research interests include patient knowledge and adherence to renal diets, plant based diets in kidney disease and the role of nutrition in kidney stone prevention. She volunteers for the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois and Healthy Aging, a practice group of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics.
