Anemia Due To CKD

Anemia is very common in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Kidneys produce the hormone erythropoietin (EPO), which helps the body generate red blood cells. Patients with kidney disease cannot produce enough EPO, which causes the red blood cell count to drop and anemia to develop, leading to symptoms such as fatigue, headache, shortness of breath, and impaired cognitive function.
